The Original 151 Pokémon, 20 Years On…

It’s crazy to think that Pokémon has been around for 20 years now, and we’re getting quite a year of monster catching to celebrate. In the run up to the next major releases in the series, Pokémon Sun and Moon, we’ve seen a lot of attention thrown back to those days of yore. Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow have been re-released on Virtual Console and next month we’ll be seeing the game changer Pokémon Go! hit our mobile platforms, both of which are focused on promoting the original 151.

But how do these most beloved critters look now after 20 years? They’re all still knocking about but many have received further evolutions, pre-evolutions, branch evolutions, type chages, form changes and more recently mega evolutions. In fact since the first set of games were released, 35 out of the 78 evolutionary lines have been added onto in some way. So low and behold, this is what the original 151 Pokémon look like today, complete with all their additional transformations, types and when they first appeared in the series.
